Today, the small Deuring castle (1660-90), formerly owned by the von Deuring family, hosts a gourmet restaurant. The buildings on which the present-day´s structure was erected probably date back to the Middle Ages. The extant brickworks was changed into a Baroque juwel and influenced the townscape of the upper city since then. Many artists, as for example the famous Expressionist Egon Schiele in 1912, used the castle as a motif.
